HOW CLAYTON KERSHAW AND ZACK GREINKE CAN BE PROPERLY HONORED FOR THEIR STELLAR SEASON IN DODGER BLUE

I’m going to make this as to-the-point as I can:

There hasn’t been a duo as dominant as these two pitching on the Dodger Stadium mound since the days of immortal Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale.

Let’s just look at the numbers to this point…

Greinke:  16-3, 1.68 earned run average (Leads MLB), 174 strikeouts against just 32 walks

Kershaw:  13-6, 2.15 earned run average (3rd in MLB), 259 strikeouts (Leads MLB) against just 36 walks

If there is any other duo in Major League Baseball that has pitched as well as Kershaw and Greinke over the past 30 years, I would very much like to meet them.

To be perfectly blunt, they are the number one reason why the Dodgers, despite a mediocre bullpen (except for closer Kenley Jansen, who’s likewise having a great season with his 2.06 ERA and 31 saves), are in first place in the National League West, eight and a half games in front of the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants.

As I was watching those two ace hurlers play their craft with impeccable precision over the past few weeks, an idea came to mind as far as how they can best be acknowledged for the year they are having:

Give the 2015 N.L. Cy Young Award to both of them.

In other words…

Make Greinke and Kershaw co-Cy Young Award winners.

I can honestly think of no other way for them to be honored.

In fact, my convictions regarding this are so strong I am going to start a campaign on this site, and its Facebook and Twitter pages:

ZACK GREINKE AND CLAYTON KERSHAW FOR CO-CY YOUNG AWARD

Here are the links to those pages for you to click on, check out and “Like”:

And for those of you who may need a little more convincing, here are some clips of the duo in action, courtesy of YouTube:

Zack Greinke vs Giants, 9-1-2015

Clayton Kershaw, 14 strikeouts vs Nationals, 7-18-15

Hopefully enough Dodger fans can get this idea out and help make it happen, as it’s the only way – besides a World Series title, of course – to put a bow on this season for the ages, the way things are currently going.
